Friday 7:40 A.M.                                                         March 24 – 1944

Dear Hon:

Good morning Sweetheart. Here I am again dear, after a good nights rest. 11 hrs. should be enough don’t you think Hon? I’ll bet you never put in 11 hr. since you are away from home.

Quite a wind out all night and still going strong, one of those March winds that are familiar to you dear. It rained all day yesterday and I mean rained. It came down without letting up. It is rather dark out this morning something will come out of it and I hope it isn’t snow. Its time that we had spring.

I must order some coal this morning as the bin is almost empty and I might better call ahead than wait until I’m cleaned out. Mary + I took all the ashes out last night. 3 bu. + 2 barrels, boy its heavy work. If I never see ashes again it will make me very happy. No collections for 2 weeks now, and does it pile up. The paper had a write-up the night before that the collecting of ashes would begin.

I stopped writing for a while dear as we had breakfast and I waited for your letter.  I just received your letter of Mon. 2:00 P.M. Darling, you sure are full of Love since you have been home. Honey, it makes me very happy when I read those love letters. They are really the first in all the time we have known each other. It sure is fun darling don’t you thinks so? Absence makes the heart grow fonder, whoever wrote that saying sure knew his stuff. Sweetheart I Love you just as much and only dream of the day when you will be home again. That is my daily thought. First thing in the morning when I awake I Lie in bed and think about you, then the last thing at night before I fall asleep my thoughts are all with you. It must be mutual darling.

Your school days as far as gunnery is concerned, are over. You write that your ears are ringing from the shots. I don’t doubt that they do dear as they must be powerful compared to the rifle.

I ordered my coal a few minutes ago and I will get it Tues. The same as I got the last time. Darling I had to smile when I read about the bottle of liquor. The 1st Sgt. must have smelled it or else he knew how to get around you. It must have made you very happy to be able to treat the boys. I’m sure they all enjoyed it very much as it is so scarce there.

            Good morning again darling.

I Love you with all my heart.

“God Bless You.”
