Dear Mom,

The mail is coming very slow lately. But, I will try my best to keep them going in your direction, although I’m not sure you’ll get them very soon. Barbi waited 21 days for one. Have you received the portrait pictures yet? I think I sent them first class about a month ago. Quite a few packages are coming in lately. I hope one will come for the war. I don’t think I can wait till Christmas to open it, if it comes much before it.

Do you hear from Paul lately? I’m curious to learn how he is doing in sunny Calif.? I have a buddy in the hut from Calif. And he says Del Monte is really pretty nice. I know you wouldn’t leave to ask this kid more than once to be stationed there. I think I’d like it better than Penn. Party in Miami Beach. I used to sweat so much down there. I’d have to change my shirt every noon and hang it up to dry. And now here I am over in England for more than a year. I certainly do get around, don’t I? Well they can make my voyage homeward bound any time they want. Just give me 10 or 15 minutes to pack my barracks bag. In fact, if they want me sooner, I’ll even go just as I am. But it’ll be a cold day in h--- when that happens!!

A Charlie Clessen mystery came from the Bryn Mauir Noucens’ Club. I would appreciate it if you would kindly extend my thanks. I may try to write them a note of thanks later - I’m keeping the card as a reminder. I may even find a chance to read it. One of the fellows read it and says it’s a pippin. A book like that can really get around and everyone can enjoy it. It was a fine a selection.

Does Dad have to travel much lately? I hope not – especially at winter time. I wouldn’t want my mom to be all alone when it’s cold and bleak out-side.

How is Grammy? I hope she is well and happy. Boy could I go for a lemon meringue or pumpkin pie. I’m not particular when she makes them. Maybe I’ll be fortunate to get some orange peel for Christmas?

Well, I guess I’ll have to sign off now; please remember me to everyone.

Your loving son,

Chuck
