Dear mom,

Nothing much to say but just want to drop a line to let you know that everything is all right and that I hope things are going fine with you.

What is the latest from Paul? Do you know if he has gone to sea yet. Gosh you must feel pretty important to have two of your sons traveling around the world and fighting for their country (as the expression goes). I don’t know about Paul but this son is a weary boy, and very homesick. But, it doesn’t seem to help any to let it get me down. So I’m trying to do my best, come what may. I don’t know quite what to do without your encouraging letters, though, really I don’t. I got a letter from Richard the other day. I really got a kick out of his letter. I’ll bet he’s grown so much I’d barely notice him now. Tell granny thanks for the four leaf clover she does quite well to find them I’d never have that much patience. Well, please give my love to all. I’ll try to write again soon.
