Nov. 19, 1945

Dear Mom,

Your Nov. 11, letter came this afternoon, and I certainly appreciate it.

So, you’re having some snow at last. Gosh, I hope I don’t get home to miss my first letter in New England on the farm. Boy, what a thrill that should be. The latest news that came over the radio in regards to rideplay went did anything but please me, I assure you. The Army is going to lower the discharge score to 55 the first of Dec. You’re right, I missed it by just 2 measly points, leaving a score of 53. Now, what worries me is how much chance will I have of going home in January or Feb. - or will I have to wait till March and get out on  having over two years service when they abandon this rotten point system. I hope it will be the former, but I have too much suspicion that the latter will be the case - then I may not get home to spring - when I am counting so much on this winter (late winter). But, what comes will come, and there’s nothing I can do about it but be patient and wait - I’ve got several buddies in the same boat.

That feeding station must really be something special. I hope your pleasure and satisfaction in watching the birds will simply reward your efforts erecting the station.

Christmas will be here now before we know about tit. Several of my buddies are sailing this week on the aircraft carrier “Enterprise” so they should be home for Christmas. Boy, do I ever envy them!! Well maybe I’ll get some for my 22nd birthday.

I think Barbie should have a considerable better choice of recovery with this new Doctor. He seems to really investigate every detail – and gives her several prescriptions. Gosh I hope it isn’t too serious. I think in due time he can solve this great mystery.

How is everybody I our family? I hope you’re all well.

There is very little to do around here these days. I look forward to my third Thanksgiving dinner in this same camp this week on the 22nd. I’ll be on three day pass then - probably go to Manchester and see “Bell for Adano.” I saw “The Three Caballeros” the other day.

Well, please give everybody my love. I’ll be seeing you all before too long now. It’s really going to be wonderful.

                                                                                    All my love,

                                                                                                Chuck
