Dear Mother
I am well and hope you are the same. I wrote three letters to you and haven’t got any answer yet. Maybe I’ll get one tomorrow. How are Gladys and Edith? And Elizabeth and Ritta? I almost forgot her name. How are Edith’s kids. I wrote her and didn’t get any answer. Joseph sent me a letter. We are here for six weeks training then we will come back east. It is very hot here. We walk around in our shirt sleeves. We get plenty to eat. I have gained weight. Only thing I’m wondering is what’s wrong with you? I haven’t heard from you. Why don’t you write? I can’t write any more until I get a pay. I haven’t any money to buy writing paper. I don’t know why you won’t send me some. You can send it by air mail, and I will get it right away. My address is
Pvt Randolph Thomas
Send me some money soon, please, so I can write you more often. I won’t get paid until sometime next month. I’ll get two pays, so I’ll send the money to you. I’ll be home then.
