I’m still in
Dearest Marge,
I’ll try
and answer the letter I received today. I’m laying here in some guys cow
pasture. Last night after we moved here I asked someone what was in the field.
I soon found out. About 40 cows almost ran over me and another guy. I was
taking off my shoes and I left shoes and everything, I had cow sh*t all over my foot. Boy was I a mess. Ha Ha. This is a dairy farm and have they a cross bull. He is
trying to get out now. One of the neighbors here shot him with the shot gun
about nine times and he still wanted more. Some bull.
I got my
watch today and I think its swell. Marge you shouldn’t have spent that much for
a watch. But anyway I like it and will take good care of it.
Honey I’m
laying here thinking about you. I wish I could be with you just like we used to
be. Marge it will soon be eleven months. Won’t it? It won’t be long until we
will be married a whole year. Will it? Boy I wish I was back with you like I
was last year about this time it will be just about the same as last year.
Remember? I’ll bet you never will forget I was laying here and I just happened
to think. That is the right day isn’t it? Honey do you know any more dates
about this time of year? That’s all I remember.
Honey I
love you more that I ever did. I think about you but I’d rather tell you than
just write about it. I wish I had you so I could just hold you forever and
ever. You’re the best pal I ever had and always will have.
Well Honey
the boys have some milk here. I’ll quit for a little while. Well Marge the milk
was pretty good. These people here treat a solider like a human being. I had
one woman wash all my dirty clothes and all she charged was$.50. She even
ironed part. Most of these farmers have boys in the service and they say they
would like have their sons treated the same way. We even get a lot of ice water
too. If we ask for water and they have ice they will make ice water. One woman said
if she didn’t have any more to do than chip ice for a solider she would quit.
Her son leaves before long and she was worrying about him. He’s 25 and got a
kid about 3 or 4 yrs old. Tough Sh*t.
Some cow
just tried to kiss me. I guess she thought I looked lonesome. The darned cow
wants to eat my blankets. There are a few mosquitoes here. Just a dew.
Well Marge its almost dark and I have to take a shower yet tonight.
Don’t think I’m crazy cayse there is a water hose in
the cow barn and I’m going to use that. There isn’t
many streams around here to wash in so we have to provide a means.
I’ll stop
tonight but I’ll write more in the morning.
My light is attracting too many bugs. Honey I love you and always will.
Trust me and someday we will be happy together again. I know you get lonesome
but don’t forget I do to. I don’t want to be away any more than you want me to
be. But I can’t help that. You know I love you and someday soon I’ll try and
make you happy again.
I love you Marge
July 22, 43
I’ll try and finish this now. We are expecting to move any
time now. We don’t know how soon. Honey I wish I was moving back home to you
instead of just around this territory. I’m getting tired of moving so darned
much. News is scarce here. I haven’t seen a paper to read for about a month
now.
Marge I
told you not to worry about pop and mom being mad. They never told me anything
about it so I knew they weren’t mad. You worry too much about such things.
Honey I
like my watch more every minute. I don’t know what Ill do with those cards
though. I still have those that you sent in the folders with the stationary.
Write and
tell me if you have any news. I think I’ll close now and mail this. Maybe it
will go out today. I love you more than anything in this old world. Honey I’m
proud your mine. Someday we can be happy together again. Then maybe you can get
fat. Ha Ha.
I love you Marge
Here is a real sweet kiss for the sweetest wife on this old
world.
