Dear Ralph,

This fine morning I’ll try and write you a few lines, which leave us all well and hope you the same.  I have been going to write to you, and Junior, but told the girls I didn’t know what to say.  Well Ralph I suppose you are anxious to get home.  Well we’re all excited to.  It sure will be swell to see you again.  Marge is so excited she talks to me every night about when Ralph comes home.  I told her the other night I would be so happy I’d cry and I’d kiss you too and she laughed like heck and said I don’t doubt you’d cry mam you wouldn’t kiss him.  I said “yes I would” and then we both laughed.  Well Kate has come home again her and her in- laws had a little fall out.  I bet she wishes now she had listened to me.  I hope Junior gets home soon.  I believe the war with Japan won’t last too long now!

Kate Williams is expecting Satchie home any day.  Ralph you will have to laugh when you first see her….  I do like her and she is so good to Marge.  She calls Satchie “her man” and that tickles me nearly to death.

Well Kate and I were in Carrollton yesterday and first one we saw we knew was Naomi.  And really she bats her eyes nearly as bad as her mother.  She was telling us her brother said he wouldn’t be home till x-mas of 1946 and she batted her eyes and puckered her mouth and I laughed.  I was telling Marjorie last night and she said she was nuts.  Well Ralph we had folks here last night and from Waynesburg wanting to buy our place.  Wayne wouldn’t set him a price.  He said Standard Oil wanted to start him in business and Wayne said that was his plans in the spring to start up a filling station.  There was a man here few weeks ago from Carrollton wanted to buy and Wayne asked such a terrible price he never came back and I didn’t blame him cause we have fixed it up a lot since you were home.  Well Ralph did Marge tell you Myers here moved back to Harlem.  Think Marge is going to Harlem Sunday down to your home and I’m going along to stop over at Nellie’s.  Well really I don’t know any news to tell you, I expect Margie writes all the news for she really seldom misses a night of writing to you.  So I’ll close for now and try and write Junior a few lines.  Be good Ralph and sure hope you get home soon.

With Love,

Alice
