Dear Mom
I’ve been transferred to another outfit, the 51st Replacement Bat. It’s a rifle platoon which is what I wanted, nuts to those machine guns. They moved a bunch from my old company into this and stuck us in another platoon but we bitched and got this. It’s better. I’ll finagle around some and try to get into scout- snipers school pretty soon. I can keep my same old rifle; it was touch and go for a while but it came out all right. When you get this I won’t be able to tell you what my mailing address is as I don’t know myself. I’ll let you know as soon as I find out. What mail you’ve sent so far will probably reach me sooner or later. I loaned the last 2 bucks I had in the world to a guy I knew from P.I. Now that I’m transferred I’m worried about getting it back but I’ll get it– or else. I will probably stay here for a few weeks longer than I expected because the schedule is all jammed up for the time being. I’m living in a tent which is bad because we don’t have any place to hang uniforms, keep baggage or bedding rolls, etc. As yet I haven’t heard from you so write once in a while please. If I get into scout- sniper school I’ll move to Hadnot Point which is the main base. That will be fine compared to this. There’s a lot of stuff to be straightened out so I’ll stop writing. To bad we’re all split up now. These guys are all stronger. Take care of yourself and say hello to Mollie.
Love
Bun
P.S. You’ll see an address on the envelope. Since it’s not definite don’t write to me and use it until I find out whether I’m in it for good or not.
