Dear Mom,

Two V-mail letters from you today. I’m getting your letters more regularly now so don’t worry. I note though that you don’t use my new address. It is, P.F.c. Chas J. Tuite, H&S Co. 6th Marines, 2nd Mar. Div. c/o F.P.O., San Fran. Calif. U.S.A.-- H&S Co. gets our mail.

Got a letter from Seboger today. He says he gets a big kick out of me because I never used to write to anybody when I was a civilian, as he says, not even a post card and now he says I’m one of his best correspondents. Guess he likes to play the horses and is having a bit of luck. Imagine Nelly as a dopester, and him going to be a priest when he grew up. Sorry to hear about Mr. Heid having that trouble. It must be terrible for Mrs. Heid to put up with. Wonder what the cause of his trouble is. I guess a person is better off dead than insane. Maybe someday if he passes away, I’ll get a chance to go up around Wood County hunting again. Tell Mrs. Heid if she wants to sell his shotgun I’ll buy it. Slight interruption from another working party. Got a letter from Jan, I thought she was going to stop writing but it looks like she’s going to keep trying. She was “bumping her gums” about me joining the Scout-Snoopers. Madame X is the only one I know (in the female line) who chortled with glee when she heard it. Guess she’s got something pretty nice in a Xmas package for me. Let me know when you get the money I sent-$150. It will probably arrive before this because it was sent in air mail. In one of my letters to you I said you should buy yourself a puppy (Irish setter)-that seems to me to be the thing you would like the most. I’ll write again to Frank and Henry also one of these days when I get more time. I think Henry is seeing a lot of fighting in the Philippines-the 7th Fleet as you read in the papers is doing a lot of work over there. I got a big laugh out of how he describes my disillusionment with the tropics. I’ve got a sprained wrist-thus the worse than usual writing. That hemorrhoid condition has completely disappeared and I’m OK physically so take it easy and don’t worry. Dengue fever and hemorrhoids are the only two things that’s been wrong with me since I left the states and now they are both over with. You ought to get a kick out of those photos-they look so bad I wasn’t going to send them but good equipment is lacking so the next best has to do. Going to the show tonight so I’ll hang up-say hello to everybody.

            Love,

            Bun
