[paper heading]: Aloha Hawaii
Clippergram from
Battery F, 57
C/O Postmaster
Dear Carrie, Fred, Gary, & Gene,
Well the mail broke through in great gobs last week and in amongst the gobs
were three from you. The one that
you mentioned that you didn’t mark air mail was in the company. I suppose they are saving up for another
heavy shipment because I haven’t had any since.
Anyway I was so very glad to hear from you and to learn that you are
well. I was very much interested in your
paragraph about the circus. I’ve never
seen one that amounted to anything and I always did want to see B. &
B. And as to those shoes, tell Fred that
if they will fit him to go ahead and wear them.
It seems to be a little indefinite just when I’ll be needing
them again so it [is] no use letting them just sit and collect dust.
I’ll tell
you what. If you could send me a roll of
camera film I’ll call it square. The
catch is that I want Kodacolor film. You know, the kind
that makes full color pictures. It costs
$1.50 a roll and you can’t buy it here on the island. There doesn’t seem to be enough made to
export it and the man in the photo place suggested that me [I] write home for
it and he would have it developed for us.
If you can get it the size is 620.
We went on
a field maneuver last week for a couple of days and made some G.I. fireworks on
the fourth. We sure put out a bang, boom,
and rumble for a little while. Later me
[I] got [a] favorable comment on the results of the target practice. The gun your little buddy was pointing
smacked the target right on the old button.
You
mentioned the picture of me with the mustache.
Well I loaned that to the fellows back in Carolina and when me [I] made
ready to push off for here he sent a lot [of] his personal stuff home and the
picture, or negative, was in it so it is somewhere in Ohio now.
Well, I
believe that about does it for now. Take
it easy and so long.
Lots
of Love,
Glenn
