Dear Carrie, Fred, Gary, and Gene
I have received two letters from you since I wrote you, one of the seventh and the other the eighteenth, the latest arriving first. I was really sorry to hear of Fred’s accident and am glad that it was no worse. I hope he is able to be back on his job by now. All of you mention the heat so it must be pretty bad. And since this is usually about the hottest month I suppose you won’t be needing a coat yet. It is still very nice here. Hot enough to make you sweat a little if you work but cool enough at night to sleep under a blanket. Makes for good sleeping you know.
I am still quite in the pink as far as health is concerned. Went swimming day before yesterday and had the usual good time that I always have round the water. We get to go pretty regularly and it forms my favorite recreation. Kept up my record for being a good boy yesterday by going to church and paying attention to the sermon. We are looking forward to pay day tomorrow. That’s the great big day over here you know. In fact I think it’s the big day in the army every where. I received a letter from Calvin just a few months ago and he was waxing enthusiastic over his first fifty dollar pay. I want to save enough to buy a new shirt and maybe a cuffless suit that we hear about when I get out.
I was interested in your recital of the crabbing trip. Remember when you, Fred, Bill and I went fishing at Sandy Hill and had such good luck? I’ll like a chance to repeat on that. Fred is about the only one I could ever catch any fish with.
I finished a letter to Myrtle a while ago and was asking about the Camps, and about a half an hour later I received one from her telling me that Carey’s was canceled. That will put a crimp in our family’s entertainment wont it?
Well, it seem’s I’ve about run out of chatter, so I’ll close for now. Take care of yourselves.
Lots of Love,
Glenn
