Dear Sisters:
It is a warm cloudy day and surely looks like it is going to
give a rain or something before long. It looked that way last night also but nothing
came down as of yet.
We are both
fine and hope you are the same and that none of you have the spring fever.
At work we
are very busy in fact were quite a bit behind in our work it seems that are
troubles all came at once we surely cannot get an engine hung and run it out
with out a pile of trouble if the starter works ok than the air pressure is on
the blink if that is ok than we can’t get enough manifold pressure out of the
dam things I surely can’t understand it and neither can anyone else we have men
here from the factory and they are out of luck as to finding our troubles. All
that I did in the last 3 nights was try and get a constant air pressure on 3
different ships if I start dreaming about it than I’ll give up as a bad job.
The field
and tour are full of rumors about the field going to close or something like
that boy it surely is terrible and no one can be sure but I heard them at the
field I come home and Mary found out a couple of new ones at Ward’s. I really
think the field is going to close before two long but some of the tales you
hear are surely far fetched. Well when
it comes it comes. They shipped 3 men from our shift and again I guess they
will [keep] doing that until there is no one left.
I have two
letters from Irma to answer and I’ll do it now. They were written the 8th
and 9th and I got them on the 13th .
I agree
that we still have a far ways to go in
I’m glad you
got a film for me Irma and I’m sorry that you haven’t been seeing some of the
pictures however we still have 2 films from Christmas we were keeping them for
better weather and in case we got some [where] some Sunday.
II
I got 8 flash light batteries yesterday
and I’ll send them soon as I get a box they got them in the P.X.Bay
of Spring must be just around the corner if you are getting Pussy Willows. I
have seen a few robins and doves around here the last couple of day it surely
is a nice spring here.
There is
nothing that we want for Easter in fact we’ll be just as pleased if you don’t
send anything. Thanks for thinking of us.
I didn’t
file any income tax but Mary did she must pay 2 cents and forgot to put the
check in with the return now she doesn’t [know] what to do however she was told
that she’ll get a bill for it. She sent it to Phila
for this is the only our temporary address.
I can’t see
dropping your charter for the death of a member it sounds dumb.
I don’t
[know] that they were condemning Hodges I kind of think the guys in charge now
what they are doing so I don’t think we should condemn anyone yet until we
[know] all the facts. I must get ready for work so I’ll sign off for this time.
So
Long
Love
John
