Dear Mom:
Got your letter today, it was forwarded on from Marana. Glad to hear that the ten was of some help.
Mom, before I forget it, I have to have some information about my insurance, that is, the insurance you carry on me. I have to know the following:
Address of home office
Address of Branch_City and state only.
Policy Number
Amount of police
Beneficiary and address of same.
Get this down to me as soon as you can mom, I have to have it for an Overseas Record that is compiled on every man in the army.
Mom, I wish I had you confidence that I will find a sweet girl someday. I’ve just about given it up as a bad deal. Somehow, girls just don’t go for me. It doesn’t particularly worry me, it just makes me wonder sometimes. One thing I know, I won’t go with one unless she suits me. Girls are pretty easy to get, if you aren’t caring much what they are. I want to see Betsy just once more and see what happens. She wrote me that the guy she had been going with has been gone about two months. Absence makes the heart wander. I know.
Mom, we have been told that we can be reasonably sure of a 10 day leave when we graduate, if I get it I will try to catch a bomber home. I can make it in about 24 hours if I can catch one.
I believe
they have a big base at
Mother, that 10 days leave is just a 10 day delay in travel. That means that I will only have about three days at home if I have to come by train. They tell us that it is nearly impossible to get a ride on a bomber. I won’t give up until the last minute though.
I have ordered my blouse and pants, I have to get shirts, short coat, caps, socks, ties, insignia and such things to complete the outfit. I am having the pants and blouse tailor made. They should be really sharp.
Mom, I’ll let you know if I fine out anymore about my leave. Hope to see you soon.
Love,
