Dear Ben:

Guess you are saying that I am a fibber for not sending the wings, but I got to Douglas on Sat. night and had to leave that same night to come here. About all that they have here is wings for Bombardiers as that is all that they graduate here. I will write some boys I know at Douglas and have them send me a pair though. It may take a little time but they will be there eventually.

I have been going to school and have learned how to operate the bombsight, the one that was a secret for so long.

I also learned how to work the automatic pilot. With it you can fly the plane by just turning a knob. It is really amazing. I am getting some good experience here; it will come in handy after the war is over. We’ll both have a plan and be “hot pilots”. Wait and see.

You should see the planes that come in here, B-17’s, B-25’s, B26’s, A-20’s, P-51’s, P-47’s, P-39’s, and most any other kind you can imagine. Really is a huge field. We have B-24’s based here. If you and Mother come out Ill really show you some planes. I am going to find out if I can take you up for a ride.

Better close now, I have to fly tomorrow and I had better get some sleep. Be good and write when you can.

                        Your bud,

                                    Roy
