April 13, 1944

Dear Mom:

First off, let me reassure you that I am not an instructor of any kind. As my certificate says, I am a qualified pilot for day and night level precision bombing. Please inform those “know it alls”, who just know I am an instructor, of my status.

I had a fine time yesterday, Saturday. Galen Wiggans, a buddy of mine, he is in the picture we had made in primary, he’s second from my left I believe. Anyway, he and I and our dates went up in the mountains on a picnic. The girls fixed the lunch and we really had a fine time and the mountains are really beautiful.

It is snowing here again today, yesterday was really beautiful and warm but it clouded up this morning and the weather has been getting worse all along.

Better close now Mom. Wiggans is howling for me to go to the show with him and we only get a chance to go on weekends.
