Sept. 24 1942
Dearest Hal, Page was to have been in Richmond Monday 21st. She and Sam
were to visit Elizabeth
while Mr. and Mrs. B. visited some of their folks. I hoped they would stop by
to see me but haven’t so far_ Elizabeth
had a birthday cake waiting for Sam and I sent him a book. Billy was sent to Camp Davis
Sept 7th to begin his OCD work He seems to like the work, Says it is
very interesting. It is a coast guard outfit His address is Cand.
W. L. Wilson O.C.D., A.A.S., Bat. 18 Camp Davis
N.C. Sara came over Tues. She had not
been here for over two weeks. The gas shortage keeps folks from moving around
much. Elizabeth came up one Sunday on the bus
last month Sam is still in Greensboro
N.C. None of us hear from him. I wonder if you are
still in the same place and if your prickly heat stays cured. I am feeling real
well now and the Dr says he may put me out to meals I wish I could leave but
Sara is determined I must stay this winter. I hope we hear from you soon. When
lights go out at 9 I look at the moon and stars and wonder about you
Love
always, Mother
