Dearest Hal,
We have had another lovely sunny fall day. At night we’ve been having frosts and it’s right chilly in the mornings. Today Mr. Stump who has Daddy’s orchard rented brought us some very nice apples. Papa and Sambo have been busy all day putting them away. I hope Daddy is going to make something on them this year. He had a very nice crop but of course he will only get half.
The Church is going to have a chrysanthemum show and turkey supper next Thursday. I’ve been busy trying to sell tickets and getting ready for that. I am so glad for anything I can do that makes the days pass a little quicker.
We are very lonely for you to come home. Sambo asked me this morning when you were coming. He said, “You know, Page, my Daddy ought to come home for the weekend. He didn’t come for the longest time.” We are both hoping you are doing a good job over there so it will so be over.
All my love,
Page
