My dearest Hal,

Today I had a letter from you which you wrote on Easter Sunday.  Please don’t worry about the promotion.  I know how those things often are.  I told Sara not to write anyone about it as I knew it was a mistake and knew you wouldn’t approve.  She said she wouldn’t do it if I felt it was a mistake so I imagine she has given up the whole idea.

Please write me right away if you want me to continue with the monthly checks to “Nana.”  I have not sent the one for May because I was waiting to hear from you.

Hal, we have $4500.00 invested in six $1000.00 bonds.  I thought the interest was added to the principle to give it a maturity value of $1000.00 in ten years.  The bonds are made out to us jointly.  The car is in your name as it was when you left.

You really would be pleased at the improvement in my hay fever.  I am still taking shots and will have to continue to take them for quite a long time I guess but it is a wonderful relief.  Of course it is too soon to brag because Sam and I both have our worse time during ragweed season.  We are hoping for the best however.

The vacuum cleaner is such a joy.  I don’t ever expect to try to do without it because it has proved a lifesaver in keeping down the dust.  It keeps the rug so nice and clean.

Dearest, if you can do please buy me another rug something like this one.  I have never had anything I liked more.

I hope the pictures will arrive in time for your birthday.  They have been on the way about six weeks.  So maybe you will be seeing them some of these days.  I hope your birthday will be nice.  Wish we could be with you and help you celebrate it.

The war news from North Africa sounds pretty good these days.  “Nana” heard from Billy but I imagine she writes you the news of him.

Sam has a white rabbit for a pet.  I think maybe I wrote you about “Pete.”  Sam is very much concerned because “Pete” is a “bachelor rabbit.”  He wants to find another rabbit to be company for him.  Where he got the expression “bachelor rabbit” I’ll never be able to tell you.

We miss you more and more.  Of course we’re looking forward to having our own home and believe me the nicest thing about it will be having you there to share it with us.

                                                                                    All my love,
