August, 4.
Dearest Hal,
We are
having some very hot weather for us. I suppose to you it would seem quite
delightful just by contrast. Today we canned some more corn. We now have canned
21 pts. I am doing my best to see that we don’t starve. Also gaining some
information which will be useful in the future I hope.
Yesterday I
went to town to give a pint of blood to the
I can’t
feel any effects of having given blood unless it is that I am a little more
tired than usual tonight but that is probably because I’ve had a busy day.
After we
finished giving our blood we (
I will send
you another box of cigars right away. I renewed your magazine subscriptions
some time ago so I hope you will not miss any issues. I finally found you a
fountain pen. I guess that is what you’d call it. I am afraid it is a very poor
excuse. But in times like these we take what we can get and are glad to get
anything. I looked and looked before I finally found even that. Try to make
that one do for awhile and maybe some day I can find you a good one.
Hal, I am
so glad you could get some more rugs. I know you will never regret it. I am
just “tickled pink” (Sam’s favorite expression) with both the rugs you have
already sent. Have the others been mailed yet? You know how I nearly die of
curiosity. The Indian rug you sent came in just a little over two months. May
8. to July 14. That was two months earlier than I
thought it could come. We all get so thrilled when a package comes. Just think
how wildly excited we will all be when you come home.
As I’ve said before that is what I live for.
All
my love,
Page.
