Wednesday
My dearest Hal,
I’m feeling better tonight and I’m very anxious to come this weekend so I’m doing everything I know to hasten my recovery.
I got your letter this morning telling about the dance. Please try to find out if the wives will be wearing long dresses to the dance. I hate to be over dressed and feel conspicuous. You can tell me when you call me on Friday night. I think that dance sounds like it would be fun. I hope you won’t be shy about trying. We’ll keep our secret to ourselves and do whatever you like.
Do we need any refreshments for the dance? The march tickets are good now. I could go shopping if we’re running low. What kind should I get? You’ll have to tell me over the phone I guess and hope no one is listening in.
I saw Zack in the post office today and he says Camp Lee is a pretty terrible place. I don’t believe it. If you’re there it will seem like heaven to me.
I think I have gotten someone to help Mother while I’m away. Mamie Pryor said today that she would come twice a week and help. She will be expensive I’m afraid but if I can be with you I’m sure it will be worth every bit of it.
Here’s hoping we’ll have a lovely time. Remember I can always stay with Mrs. Tyler in Chester. Both of us can I mean and I would not want to be a nuisance.
All my love,
Page.
