Somewhere in
Dearest Darling,
You don’t know
how wonderful it is Darling to have this time to write you a letter. Very seldom do I have the chance to write,
but when I do I’ll always write you.
Pheety I’m so worried about you, I don’t know whether
you’re sick or feeling good or where you are.
I haven’t received any mail at all since Oct. 28th, a
month ago. I think I’ll go crazy if they
don’t get our mail to us pretty soon.
And to make it worse, I’m so homesick for you Darling it just isn’t
funny.
I guess I
told you in some of my previous letters that a few of us have been separated
from the rest of our unit. That’s why
we’re not getting our mail, it’s with the rest of our outfit & no one has
time to go after it nor will anyone bring it to us. I guess we’ll-
– eventually get it & I hope
it’s soon. Our chief clerk wrote our
Commanding officer to send our mail right away to us.
Well we’re
moved again Pheety, we moved Nov. 23rd
on Thanksgiving Day & we’re operating once again in new territory. We’re still working those long tiresome hours
but not quite as bad as we had it at the other place. Oh yes, I forgot to tell you I had turkey for
Thanksgiving & was hoping that day that you too had a nice dinner. I was thankful for a lot of things
Darling. I am thankful I have you to
look forward to & thankful I am in pretty good health & alive. When I say only pretty good health I mean I
feel good, but I’m never rested & I’m losing a lot of weight. I haven’t had a chance to weigh myself but I
imagine I’ve gone from 150 to about 135 lbs. Anyway I am getting a little thin from working
so long without-
-any rest. If I could
get more sleep I believe I’d always weigh the same. But maybe the war will be over soon & I
can get my rest. Well my Darling I
believe I have your shopping all done.
The last two trips here of our new location I’ve been buying you some
nice souvenirs of
-but you Darling & what or who could be sweeter than you
to think of. Everyday I keep wondering
where you are, in
-I hope as time goes by that you don’t get discouraged &
wondering when the devil I’m coming home.
If you still love me, I know you can wait Darling. Remember Pheety
this war can’t last much longer & I’ll be coming home in the late Spring or early Summer.
All I want you to do Darling is to take good care of yourself &
remember I’ll always love you. No one
can take your place with me Margaret, never.
I hope you have a happy Christmas Darling & I’m sorry I couldn’t get
your presents to you in time. Next year
we’ll be together for Christmas & won’t we be happy? I sent some cards the 25th,
I hope you get them before Christmas. I
have to go back to work now Darling & don’t forget,
you’ll be on my mind every minute.
All my love
& kisses for only you.
Love
Your
Dumplin
