My Darling Wife,

Today is Sunday and I’m getting ready to sign our payroll.  Have to stay in our barracks this morning so can’t go to church amount payroll.

Since I’ve been here I’ve been doing a little close order marching but haven’t started our hard basic training yet.  Have been to mail call every evening at 6:45 PM but as of yet haven’t received a letter.  I will be so happy when I do cause I’m so lonesome for you it isn’t funny.  And I love you Darling and appreciate you so much more when I’m away from you.

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if I were sent to Ft. Wayne Ind. for my training.  They have a railroad out of it there and I understand a lot of men from here are sent there.

How have you been feeling, are you alright? Now please take care of yourself Pheety and don’t work too hard cause I worry so much about you.  Your folks certainly understand your condition so I hope they don’t depend on you too much.  Don’t be afraid to speak your piece when it’s hurting you Darling, cause you once told me about having to carry water and slop.  When and if I find out how long I’ll be here I’ll let you know if it will be safe for you to come.  I was told by a lieutenant yesterday that the Government pays a soldier’s wife’s expenses to come where the soldier is stationed.  If they have furniture the Gov. moves it at their expense.  Of course they only do it just one time and only one way.  If I’m sent to another camp then we have to carry our own travel fare.  Wouldn’t it be swell for you to come down here on the Gov.

Its just like summer down here Pheety only we still wear our wool outfits cause in the morning and evenings it is very cold.  One of these days I’ll write and tell you about coming to live with me Darling and what railroad to come on etc.

I sure do love you Darling and am so glad I married  you.  You’re so sweet and everything I wish you were here so I could kiss and squeeze you to death.  Oh Boy!

If someone else could even touch you I wouldn’t have anything to live for.  To know I can trust my Pheety and know that she loved me so much means everything to me when I’m way down here.  If I were to even step out on you Darling I would have done it when I was home.  Everything is different now cause to be faithful to you down here means everything to me.  I was faithful to you at home too but since I’m sway it all impresses me so much more.  I love you Darling so much I couldn’t even stand to see you with anyone else.

Enclosed, please find a picture which I’m sure you’ll like.  I found it in a movie magazine and thought of you right away.

I’m going to mail call now and will be back to write some more.  Mail Call is at 11:00 AM on Sunday’s so I’ll go now.

Just got back from mail call Darling and still no letter.  I thought if you had sent any to Ft. Thomas that it would be here if forwarded right away.  I hope you write me everyday as I will do the same when I have the time.

If you notice I have a number (12) in parenthesis after Orleans.  I forgot that the first time but to get to me quicker please use that same number.

Vane has been moved to Shreveport, Louisiana just 110 miles from me, isn’t that swell.  I’m going to see if he and I can’t get together some weekend.  All I can think of now.  Write soon.

Your Faithful Husband, Love,

            Vincent
