October 1944
Dearest Pheety,
Today is
Sunday and I have nothing to do this morning. This afternoon I am going to a
show. How is my Dumplin? I have been missing you so
much honey. I am feeling O.K. and getting plenty of rest I assure you. I got
your pictures that were taken by Universal Studios when you were coming out of
the theater. You look so sober in them. Fags couldn’t get over it because you
were always laughing and to see you looking so sober was a surprise to them.
Well Pheety, after writing to you every day I hardly know what
to tell you from time to time except how much I love you and you’re probably
getting to know it all. I know Pheety understands how
I feel about him. I got a letter from your grandmother yesterday. I haven’t
written to your mother or the folks for a week. Mom never answers all my
letters anyway.
She said
her hand was better and Peg’s arm was almost well.
Darling I
haven’t heard from you for quite some time but I am expecting some word next
week and I hope I’m not disappointed.
I will
close for now and write again tomorrow. Keep your chin up honey and remember
that I love you more than anything else.
Your wife,
Margaret.
P.S. I am O.K. honey so please don’t
worry about me.
