Dear Mom & Pop:
A few lines to let you know I am ok and made it here alright
with the exception of being pretty tired and worn out, and I sure was sick when
the Lieutenant told me he had wired more time, but it was too late then, but if
you don’t thrash before the middle of December let me know and I might possibly
get off then. I don’t have much [of an]
idea I could but could try anyway.
Well it is the same old thing around here, except it is some
stricter and stricter all the time, but I guess that is the army way. And if things keep going over yonder like it
is now, maybe it won’t be long until this thing is over, hope so anyway.
Have a good chance to make a rating here now. They have busted (that means the men have
lost their rating) nearly every one. Think the boys have been getting drunk and
fighting around here, so I am going to really go to work again and try and get
one of those ratings.
Well hope both of you are feeling better now, and continue
to do so, and now as I have two or three more letters to write will close for
this time with love to all.
Love
Marlin
