Dearest Mom & all-
Received
your letters of July 6 and 8 today, the money order got here O.K. The only
thing that is wrong with it is I owe the largest part of it. You just spend
more in Pounds and Shillings then you realize. One Pound is worth $4 one
Shilling is 20¢ and a glass of beer is one Shilling so when a bunch goes out
together the lbs go fast.
About
that new job I had. I worked at it one day and that was enough for me,
nothing much to do except sit around and you know how I am about that. I like
to be on the move, so I traded back for my truck.
I
mailed the pictures a day or two ago. The reason I waited so long was to get
some developed that we took here. There will be several of them. You can’t tell
what they are for they are so dim, but when I get back and we look them over I
can explain what they are. Some of them are pretty good.
I
wrote Allie Mae a good letter about going to
Sure
like that clipping you sent, more truth than poetry in
it. Jeff and I are still together, where we get back are going to spend some
few days in Georgia and still hearing from my girl friend there as you know his
wife and that girl in Georgia were really good friends.
I
haven’t heard from Wesley in quite some time. I write him last and he never
answered, guess he likes to write about as well as I do anyway, there is just
very few I write to anymore, too much trouble when there isn’t anything to
write about.
Sure
hope Pop makes good with his pick-up, hope he got a good one.
As it is about time to go to work will sign off for this time
hoping to hear again soon.
Love
to all. Marlin
P.S. I didn’t get to have the party on the 5th
as we planned for the place we were going was closed, it was in a beer joint,
they call them Pubs over here, people over there sure would be surprised to see
who all gals to the Pubs Old women 65 to 90 and men as well and boys and girls
from 18 up, the people here are great beer drinkers they go just for a few
beers and to visit with their neighbors, not like at home, they go to get drunk.
