Dear Mom & Pop

A few lines to let you know I am still alive but not doing so good. I came to the hospital Monday, just had a little fever. I don’t know how long I will have to stay here. When they get you in they don’t seem to know when to let you go. My temper is down some this morning. Hope I don’t have any by tomorrow and maybe I can get out by the last of the week. I don’t suppose I will get to come to the 30^th.

They sure do run things funny here. If a fellow was very bad off he’d probably be dead before they did anything. When I get out of here they will have to bring me back dead before they get me back, but after all that there is no need for you to worry for I will be ok in a few days, and when I get out I will get the weekend pass and spend the weekend with you all so there isn’t much to write about. I will close hoping to see you all soon. Now really mom, don’t worry for I will be ok in a day or so.
