Dearest mom & all

A few lines to let you know I am still alive but not doing so good. They have me marked down with Pneumonia, but I just have a bad cold. If they would just give me something for my cold and then turn me out of this place I would be alright, but I guess I had just as well forget about getting out for some time anyway, for there are some boys that have been in here for 70-80 days, but mom there is no need for you to worry, for they really are good doctors in this ward it seems, though it takes them some time to get to doctoring the Patients.

The worse part of it here is you don’t have anything to do except sit around all day and you know how I enjoy that about like a lion in a cage. I sure do hope I don’t have to stay here as long as some of the boys have. If I do I probably will be in the bug house, but I don’t think I will have to stay here that long for I am not as sick as they were when I came in.

So mom there isn’t any use for you to worry, and when I get out will be home to see you all.
