            It is getting hot.  Hope all is going well with you.  I got your letter.  I am also doing well.  Everyday, I go for a walk or a run in the mountain, just like a monkey would.  Like I said before, Sergeant Shiro will be soon visiting your house.  As I look at a stream in this valley, it reminds me of the Sanpo River, which at this time of year should be full of ayu [sweet fish].  We’re glad that we can catch fresh water fish and soft-shelled turtles here since rations are so low because of the war.  Nowadays, I receive newspapers.  They changed the name of the Education Department of the prefecture government and also replaced the supervisor.  It may be difficult, but please send 30 yen again.  It will be getting hotter, so please take care.
