Dear Lily,
I
received your letter the 3rd of April. This coming Sunday will be Easter and we will
be at Sea. We just came in from sea
after having our Military Inspection. We
made out all right. Now we will only
have one more inspection till we reach the Navy Yard.
Will
you bake me a cake if I come home? When
I do, you’d better bake the best cake of your life, because no one else but myself will get any.
I’m glad Jack liked the stamps.
Tell Avis there is no Aviation Cadet aboard named C. He may be on the Lexington or another
carrier.
I
was wondering why I didn’t get a letter from my mother for some time. I didn’t know she went to New York. I haven’t a thing to write about this
time. When you say your prayers, say an
extra one for something I want to happen.
I’ll let you know if it will come true.
I hope I’ll be able to tell you instead of writing you. Did Bob C. re-enlist in the Marine Corps or
is he just working in the Yard?
I’ll
never forget the last time I kissed you at the Station. And I’ll never forget the Common, or all the
other times. How I hope I could be with
you and tell you how much I care for you.
You ought to know by now how much I love you. Someday soon, I hope I’ll take you in my arms
and tell you so. Give my regards to
all. And don’t forget to pray for what I
told you.
Yours
always,
An.
P.S. You still
didn’t write me what you had promised to.
