Dear Lily,

We are to leave tomorrow, for sure November 1.  We have most of our patients back from the hospital.  Haven’t had a letter from you in four days.  We are going direct to Saipan and should be there Nov. 15th.

Today is Halloween.  Did the kids have some sort of a party, and what did Mae and the baby do?

Everything aboard ship is at a standstill.  I think everyone wants to leave and get out there and back.  Everyone has sent their family’s home, and hardly anyone goes ashore.

We get to see a movie every night and as usual I spend most of my time reading.

It has been almost 4 weeks since you left.  That seems an awful long time.  I hope the holidays come and go fast.  Here the war is over and I can’t be there for Christmas, and the two before I was lucky enough to be home with you and the children.

It must be getting a little cold back there now - the Butcher will really enjoy the snow this year.

Well Darling take some care of yourself and give the babies a kiss for me.

                                                Your loving Husband,

You shouldn’t be hearing from me for some time, as we will be at sea.  I’ll write after and every time mail leaves the ship - there will be a letter for you.

I love you Lil - more than anything in this world.
